Talk show host Oprah Winfrey had lived in Wisconsin for a short time. For the first six years of her life, Oprah lived on a farm in rural Mississippi by her grandmother, but soon went to live with her mother in Milwaukee. After eight years in Milwaukee, Oprah was sent to live with her father in Nashville, Tennessee. Oprah began her career as a radio newscaster while in high school, and the rest is history.
