The nation's highest flag pole stands 338 feet tall. And, an appropriately gigantic flag waves from the record-high flag pole. The 300-pound flag that features 3-foot-wide stars and 4.5-foot-high stripes can be seen in front of Acuity Mutual Insurance Company along Interstate-43 in
Sheboygan.
The flag is part of a new memorial honoring more than 800
Sheboygan County veterans killed in the line of duty.
A 200-foot flag pole once stood there, but high winds and a design flaw combined to blow down that pole December of 2004. The new flag was raised on July 2, 2005.
